Greg has been originating mortgages for over 20 years and has helped over 5,000 families through the homebuying process. 

Greg’s career began in education and counseling; where he worked as a school counselor and coach for eight years prior to entering real estate. The same kindness and openness, and the caring approach he honed as a counselor continues to serve him in every interaction with his clients and members of his team. 

Greg has led The Cowart Team, backed by NFM Lending, as branch manager for seven years. He is regarded as one of the top lenders in Richmond, having been ranked in the top 1% of mortgage lenders in the United States.

He has close relationships with top agents and builders in Richmond, and values being an extension of their team as they guide clients through the homebuying process. 

Greg is a proud father of three young adult children and has been married for 26 years. He is originally from Charleston, S.C., and moved to Richmond after graduating from James Madison University in 1994. He later earned an advanced degree in counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University. 

When not helping families buy homes, Greg enjoys travel, cycling, gardening, triathlon, volleyball, and yoga.
